Shelby Miner graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2014 with degrees in Anthropology, Communications, and Leadership.
Shelby earned her law degree from UCLA in 2017. She was admitted to practice in California that year, and since then has dedicated her legal career to protecting both civil and employee rights.
At UCLA School of Law, Shelby received a specialization in Tax Law and published an article regarding Use Tax and the changes that should occur in that area of law. While studying at UCLA, Shelby worked for the District Attorney’s Office, the Court of Appeals, and a private firm. She was also the President of the UCLA Moot Court Team and participated in a number of additional extra-curricular activities.
After graduating, Shelby worked for two private firms before starting Miner Legal, PC.
Areas of Expertise:
- Employment – Shelby represents individuals who have experienced unlawful harassment and/or discrimination based on their age, disability, race, sex, gender, sexual orientation, pregnancy and other grounds protected under the Fair Employment and Housing Act, such as retaliation against those who report discrimination and/or harassment. Shelby also represents those who have suffered Wage and Hour violations, such as their right to lawful wages, overtime pay, proper breaks, and other rights protected by the Labor Code. She also works to defeat employers’ sham attempts at misclassifying their employees as “independent contractors” or otherwise exempt from protection under the Labor Code.
- Civil Rights – Shelby represents individuals who have had their civil rights violated outside of the workplace, including cases of police misconduct, housing discrimination, school bullying, and other such actions taken based on a trait protected by the Constitution.
